deutsche-aussenpolitik.de was founded to promote understanding and enrich discussion of German and European foreign policy. It is a non-profit project, presently supported by the Chair of Foreign Policy and International Relations at the University of Trier (Prof. Dr. Hanns W. Maull) and the Chair of International Relations at the Rupprecht-Karls-University Heidelberg (Prof. Dr. Sebastian Harnisch).

Since June 2001, deutsche-aussenpolitik.de has offered scholars, practitioners and the attentive public the following services, which are available free of charge:

• Our weekly Digest on German foreign policy, which offers a carefully selected but extensive summary of media coverage on German and European foreign policy.
• Our Opinion-Editorials, which regularly provide standpoints of distinguished political scientists on current developments in German and European foreign policy. This section is significantly supported by the German Marshall Fund of the United States.
• Our searchable archive, which is an invaluable tool for anyone who wants to research more thoroughly a specific issue or policy area in German foreign policy. This archive allows you not only to access all past issues of the Digest, but also to search its contents, using keywords or a full text search function.
• Our internet portal on German foreign policy. This offers you an up-to-date link-list and a bibliography on German foreign policy, as well as access to contents produced by deutsche-aussenpolitik.de in the past, such as our e-journal “German foreign policy in dialogue”, our dossiers, all of which were discontinued in 2008.

From October 2010, project coordination and editing of the Weekly Press Digest lies with Christine Schuster. Research is conducted by Hannes Hauenschild and Stefan Schilling. Mario Maurer operates the online archive and Peter Klassmann carries out the technical conversion.
